Own a piece of Southport History!! This vintage Historic Marker commemorates the Black Businesses that thrived in Southport during the mandatory segregation that existed in the first two-thirds of the twentieth century. The marker was once part of the Southport Historic Walking tour. It was displayed in the middle of the block on the west side of Howe St. It has since been prepared for display with a custom wooden frame. A heavy wrought-iron easel is included to facilitate display in your home, business or organization. Note: This is the largest marker in the collection. The framed dimensions are 50” by 26”. The dimensions of the easel is 20.5”w x 16”d x 48”h
A note from Southport Historical Society: Our online auction is raising money to support the Southport Historical Society and the Southport Beautification Committee. All auction proceeds will go directly to support programs that benefit the greater Southport community - education, historic preservation, and beautification. Proceeds will also help fund the annual Susie Sellers Carson Scholarship for graduating South Brunswick High School seniors. Thank you to all of our generous donors.
