Own a piece of Southport History!! While Lord St. was named for one of the town's founders, William Espy Lord, it could just as well have been named for the Almighty. In a happy coincidence two African American churches are located on Lord Street. This vintage Historic marker celebrates these two churches plus a third nearby, and the Pythagoras Lodge#6, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons. This Historical Marker was once displayed in Southport on the southwest corner of Lord and Owens Street as part of the Historic Walking Tour. It has since been prepared for display with a custom wooden frame. A heavy wrought-iron easel is included to facilitate display in your home, business or organization. The framed marker’s dimensions are 38” by 26”. The dimensions of the easel is 20.5”w x 16”d x 48”h. See photos for an example of what the marker would look like on the easel.
A note from Southport Historical Society: Our online auction is raising money to support the Southport Historical Society and the Southport Beautification Committee. All auction proceeds will go directly to support programs that benefit the greater Southport community - education, historic preservation, and beautification. Proceeds will also help fund the annual Susie Sellers Carson Scholarship for graduating South Brunswick High School seniors. Thank you to all of our generous donors. We greatly appreciate your help supporting these important programs, and we wish you good luck with your bids!
Item delivery: After you have paid for any auction items that you won, the event organizer will contact you to coordinate delivery. If you live greater than 30 miles from Southport, shipping charges may apply.
