Own a piece of Southport History!! This vintage Historic Marker tells the story of the Confederate blockade runners, also known as the lifeline of the Confederacy. By 1864 Smithville blockade runners arguably made Wilmington the most important city in the South. The marker was once on display in Southport as part of the Historic Walking Tour and was located on the south side of West Bay Street. It has since been prepared for display with a custom wooden frame. A heavy wrought-iron easel is included to facilitate display in your home, business or organization. The framed marker’s dimensions are 38” by 26”. The dimensions of the easel is 20.5”w x 16”d x 48”h. See the additional photos for a sample of how the marker would look on an easel.
